When Lauren and Jake said they wanted to visit The Plush Horse ice cream shop in Chicago while shooting their engagement photos, we jumped at the chance! Because is there anything more adorable than a couple getting goofy together with ice cream! And this classic parlor in Tinley Park is the perfect backdrop for it! These high school sweethearts really made their engagement session their own!
Lauren and Jake have such a down-to-earth way about them, and they are seriously a blast to hang out with. Whatever vibe was thrown at them they were super outgoing and down-to-go. Which was great because we had lots of ideas! We first met the couple down at The Plush Horse ice cream shop in Chicago. Why this specific location? This was their actual very first date, and they wanted this sweet engagement session to honor that moment.
We began shooting Lauren and Jake’s engagement photos inside The Plush Horse ice cream shop, with the pair of them sharing cones by the window. Then we made our way outside, and that’s where things started to get a bit messy! There was ice cream on noses, ice creams conjoining together, and melting everywhere. It may not have been the warmest day for an engagement session in Chicago, but those ice creams melted quickly!
From Ice Cream to Baseball Fields to Waterfalls
As we mentioned, Lauren and Jake are always happy to try new things! This was a chance to see where their engagement photos would take them after The Plush Horse ice cream shop. It was such a vibe for these two to explore parts of Chicago they hadn’t seen for a while. After all, they have been away from home since moving to Arizona some time ago. Our next destination was Waterfall Glen, but on the way we stopped off at a local baseball field, and captured some cozy shots of them covered in a blanket. And strolling hand in hand across the field.
Our couple may be super adventurous, but they also love to get glammed up. In fact, their future wedding day is at Haley’s Mansion in Joliet – beautiful wedding venue and a very classy backdrop. In juxtaposition to the casual engagement photos we took at The Plush ice cream shop, it was time for these two to dress up! They looked wonderfully sophisticated together, and Lauren in particular looked so cool in her blue velvet jumpsuit. Now, it was time for the waterfall photos! We shot some candids of the two of them standing elegantly by the waterfall before the pair toasted their engagement with a bottle of something sparkling.
Both Lauren and Jake loved their engagement session, and really chased the sunlight, always hoping to create one more keepsake moment of themselves together. They were such a joy, and we can’t wait for them to tie the knot in August 2022!
